Notes:
The La Grande Hotshots are looking to fill between four and six seasonal positions. The La Grande Hotshots are actively recruiting candidates with multiple years of fire experience, in addition to "special skills including chainsaw operation, EMT's and commercial drivers."

NOTE: Three keys to getting on with the La Grande Hotshots are:

1.) Excellent professional references. They check them.

2.) Establishing contact and demonstrating persistence. Simply submitting an application via Avue is not enough. You must reach out to them and continue to do so throughout the winter.

3.) Filling-in. Whether it's due to injuries or other factors, Hotshot Crews sometimes request "Fill-ins" to take out on assignments if they are short a crewmember. If you're on an engine crew or a Type II crew - and in solid shape with a red-card in your pocket - contact La Grande and ask to be put on their "Fill-in" list. Think of it like a temp job - if they like you, they might ask you to apply the following year.

NOTE #2: Supt. Brian Bush strongly recommends emailing a copy of your resume and a cover letter to the crew - in addition to submitting a formal application via AVUE.

They have a pretty gnarly training hike too - Mt. Emily. With 3,000 feet of elevation gain in less than three miles, the hike ranks among one of the toughest around. Show-up in shape.
